Combine sparks fire in sunflower field, no injuries PDF Print E-mail

A Seward County fire crew puts out hot spots after a combine sparked a fire off Road R and Road 5 east of Liberal on Wednesday afternoon. The fire burned about 80 acres of cut and uncut sunflowers, according to Emergency Management Director Greg Standard. The combine was not seriously damaged and no injuries were reported. The Turpin, Okla., Fire Department assisted in putting out the blaze, Standard said. Daily Leader photo/Shawn Yorks
