
Daniel F. Thompson, 78, died Wednesday, Oct. 4, 2017 at his home in Liberal. He was born Dec. 23, 1938 to Howard Francis and Susie June (Zimmerman) Thompson at La Mesa, Calif. He graduated from Cajon Valley High School, in El Cajon, Calif. in 1957. He earned an associate of arts degree from Freed-Hardeman College, in Henderson, Tenn. and attended David Lipscomb College in Nashville. He graduated from McPherson College in 1964 with a bachelor of sciences degree. He taught grade school in Hillsboro and on the Navajo Reservation in Arizona. He worked as a substitute teacher in Kansas City, in the Coolidge, Ariz. area, and for USD 480. He served as a minister with the Church of Christ in Kansas and Mexico. Survivors include sister, Lydia Dillon, of Ukiah, Ore.; nieces, Cynthia Ramirez and husband Gabriel, Liberal, and Debi Flores and husband Jesus, Liberal; several other nieces and nephews; and many great-nieces and great-nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Frank Howard Thompson Jr.; and three sisters: Cora Maxwell, Grace Willey, and Nancy Brooks. • Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 7 at First Church of the Nazarene with Pastor Arlen Ankle presiding.
