Investigators with the Liberal Police Department are currently looking into how a 27-year-old man from a Salina fumigation company fell to his death from the Perryton Equity Exchange grain elevator on Pershing Ave. in Liberal.
A press release from Liberal Police Capt. Pat McClurg noted an autopsy will take place on Monday.
“On Oct. 29, at about 10:04 a.m., emergency responders were dispatched to the Perryton Equity Exchange for a report of a worker that fell from the elevator,” the release said. “Emergency responders located the man near the grain elevators closest to Pershing Avenue. The man was pronounced dead at the scene.
“Investigators determined the 27 year old man was working with a fumigation company from Salina,” the release continued. “The crew was preparing to start fumigating the elevators when he apparently fell. Investigators are working to determine how the man fell.”
McClurg noted an autopsy has been scheduled for Monday. The man’s identity is not being released at this time pending notification of the his family.
