Staff will be one of the hot topics for the USD 480 school board at its next meeting this evening beginning at 6:30 at the Education Services Center at 624 N. Grant.

The first item regarding staffing will concern the board getting a list of USD 480 Certified Staff per Board Policy GACA. The board will also be asked to approve a list of additional positions throughout the district including paraprofessionals at the elementary schools and additional maintenance personnel. The full list can be seen in the agenda information at usd480.net.

The board will also be asked to take a step toward taking care of some asbestos work. With the first of these items, staff will be requesting the board award the asbestos abatement bid to Remediation Contractors, Inc  at the base bid of $41,280.00, and unit pricing as listed. Asbestos work at Garfield Elementary School will also be discussed.

“There is a proposal for site management from the Paradigm Group for Asbestos Abatement at Garfield Elementary School,” the agenda information noted. “Paradigm provided site management services for Asbestos abatement at MacArthur Elementary School.”

Staff will also be asking the board to discuss renewing the JCI planned service agreement and will also be asked to discuss the purchase of some choral risers for MacArthur Elementary School, Meadowlark Elementary School, Sunflower Elementary School and Seymour Rogers Middle School.

“There are three separate proposals supporting HVAC and building automation systems for district buildings,” the agenda information noted. “The current planned service agreement for HVAC systems expires Oct. 31.”
