PLAINS – William C. “Bill” Bolan, 90, died Thursday, Sept. 21, 2017 at the Fowler Residential Care Center in Fowler.

He was born Feb. 6, 1927 to William Cecil and Flossie Mae (Singley) Bolan in Meade. 

He married E. Antonia “Toni” Gonzales June 12, 1954 in Plains. She preceded him in death March 10, 1999.   

He married June E. Hollopeter Schelhouse July 18, 1999 in Estoncia, N.M. She preceded him in death April 21, 2013.

He graduated from Plains High School.  

After his graduation, he joined the United States Navy, serving during World War II. After his discharge, he attended Fort Hays State University receiving his Bachelor of Science degree in industrial arts. He later attended Pittsburg State University, where he earned his masters degree.  

He was a teacher and a farmer.

He was a member of the Plains United Methodist Church, the Lions Club, Gideon’s International, and the Young at Heart Senior Center.  

He enjoyed KU basketball, Kansas City Royals baseball, and spending time with his family and friends.

Survivors include son, Dino Bolan and wife, Mary, Plains; stepsons, Carl Schelhouse, the Philippines, and Charles Schelhouse, Carthage, Texas; four stepdaughters: Charlene Golden, New Mexico, Barbara Beach, Salina, Elaine Bell, Las Vegas, and Debbie Cleveland, Carthage, Texas; grandchildren, Shea Bolan and Cami Bolan; and great-grandchildren, Camrin and Connar.

He was also preceded in death by son, Tio Bolan.

 Memorial services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 11, 2017 at the Plains United Methodist Church in Plains.  

Cremation has taken place.  

There will be a private family burial at the Plains Cemetery at a later date.

Memorials are suggested to a higher education fund for his great-grandchildren in care of Fidler-Orme-Bachman Mortuary in Meade.
