L&T staff report

Liberal’s seventh grade middle school girls basketball teams played against Hays and Great Bend Saturday and came away with splits.

The Lady Warriors started the day against Hays and fell short by a single points, 14-13.

Jenna Ormiston scored four points, and Lexi Hensley, Harley Ewalt and Hallie West each scored two.

“The girls fought hard but in the end gave up too many rebounds allowing Hays second chances,” Eisenhower coach Jessica Tercero said.

In the second game for the Lady Warriors, the result was much different. Eisenhower cruised to a 51-11 win.

Hensley scored 16, Lizzy Cisneros and Rachelle Terrazas each had eight, Noemi Macias scored five, Ewalt, Ormiston and Arianna Hubbard each scored four, and West added two.

The Lady Apaches earned their first win of the season with a 20-17 win over Great Bend.

Leading the way for the Apaches were Riley Hallman and Andrea Torres with eight points each.

But the Lady Apaches couldn’t keep the momentum against Hays, falling 49-13.
