Every year for its annual Folk Art Festival, the Society for the Prevention of Bored Housewives (SPBH) chooses a beneficiary for the proceeds from its show.

This year’s project fundraiser for the Dec. 2 and 3 event is the Liberal Area Rape Crisis/Domestic Violence Services agency.

Folk Art coordinator Ada Linenbroker said this year’s event will likewise have a drawing for several great prizes, including a chance to win one of two tickets for a Jeep Wrangler Sport.

“To win one of the great prizes, bring a can good or any non-perishable food item, and for each item you bring, you will receive a free ticket for the drawing,” she said. “We will also take donations of money to help purchase the other perishable food these victims and family will need over the holiday season.”

The Liberal Police Department and the Western Kansas Child Advocacy Center will also be at the festival with the Jeep Wrangler Sport and will be selling tickets for $100.

“They are selling 1,500 tickets, and the drawing is Dec. 20,” Linenbroker said. “This would be a great present for someone for Christmas.”

The Folk Art Festival is also the last chance to sign up for the Leader&Times’ drawing for other great prizes.

“The drawing will be Saturday evening at the Christmas parade, so while you are shopping, don’t forget to sign up,” Linenbroker said.

A total of 12 other non-profits will also be at this year’s festival, including Shop With a Cop, VFW, Liberal High School art students, Eastern Star, Good Samaritan, Crossroads, Stepping Stone, Boy Scouts, the Liberal Senior Center, Dorothy’s House, Angels for Animals and Needles and Friends Quilt Guild.

All of these non-profits will be selling and having fundraisers at the festival.
