Obituary


MONTEZUMA – Alice L. Weller, 94, died Thursday, Nov. 30, 2017 at the Lone Tree Retirement Care Center in Meade.

She was born Jan. 17, 1923 to Chester G. and Susie E. (Kittle) Wallace in Plains.  

She married Bernard Eugene Weller Feb. 13, 1943 in Manhattan. He preceded her in death Feb. 5, 2010.

She attended the Plains school system, graduating from Plains High School in 1941. She later attended Kansas State University.  

She was a member of the United Methodist Church, Montezuma, the Order of the Eastern Star, was a 4-H leader, and a Sunday School superintendent.  

She enjoyed sewing, cooking, crocheting, embroidery, and spending time with her family and friends.

Survivors include children: Steve Weller, Meade, Susan Watson, Hillsboro, and Bernard E. (Bernie) Weller Jr., Dodge City; sister, Susie E. Monhollon, Independence, Mo.; 15 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; son-in-law, Harry Zielke Jr., Larned; and sister-in-law, VeraBelle Wallace, Aurora, Colo.

She was also preceded in death by daughter, Amy Zielke; and her parents.

 Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Monday, Dec. 4, 2017 at the United Methodist Church in Montezuma.  

Burial will be at 2 p.m. Monday, Dec. 4, 2017 at the Graceland Cemetery in Meade.

Friends may call from 1 to 8 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 3, 2017 with the family present from 6 to 8 p.m. at Fidler-Orme-Bachman Mortuary in Meade.  

Memorials are suggested to the Montezuma United Methodist Church in care of the funeral home.
