MADILL, Okla. – Jane Madeline McConnell, 82, died Tuesday, Jan. 2, 2018 at the hospital in Durant, Okla.  

She was born April 5, 1935 to Orrin E. Rose and Amy Inez Wismer Rose in Coffeyville. 

She married Jack Darril McConnell on June 19, 1955 in Coffeyville. He survives.

She was raised in Coffeyville where she graduated from the Coffeyville High School in 1953. While in high school, she was a member of the Drum and Bugle Corp and was always on the honor roll. She later attended Coffeyville Community College, where she received her associate’s degree in business.   

After marrying, the couple moved around the Midwest as Jack completed his education. In 1996 they moved to Madill, Okla. after he retired.

She was a member of the United Methodist Church in Madill, Okla., where she was very active in the church kitchen with luncheons and funeral dinners.  

She enjoyed her flowers, landscaping and being a great mom.     

Survivors also include children: Stephen Orrin McConnell and wife, Gina, Wichita, Linda Elaine Whaley, Hurst, Texas, and David James McConnell and wife, Aunia, Huntsville, Ala.; sister, Becky Jarrett, Wheatland, Colo.; eight grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren (with one on the way.)

She was preceded in death by her parents; and brother, John Rose.   .

• Memorial services will be at 2 p.m. Friday, Jan. 5, 2018 at the First United Methodist Church in Madill, Oklahoma with Joel Thompson presiding. 

Memorials are suggested to the Alzheimer's Association, 2448 E. 81st St., Suite 3000, Tulsa, OK 74137

Services will be under the direction of Watts Funeral Home in Madill, Okla.
