Obituary


MEADE – Luis F. Rivera-Holguin, 18, died Friday, Jan. 5, 2018 in Meade County as the result of an automobile accident.

He was born Oct. 7, 1999 to Rachael Holguin in Dodge City.  

He had worked at the Meade Thriftway, the Meade Auto Truck Plaza, for USD 226 during the summers, for the Boggs family, and Golden Boy Tacos.

He was a member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Meade, and had participated as a member of the basketball and football teams.  

He enjoyed hunting, fishing, roping, assisting family and friends with many different projects, and would be referred to as a “Gentle Giant.” 

Survivors include his mother; brother, Jonathan Holguin, Meade; grandparents, Bill and Sue Riedlinger, Meade; uncles, Roberto “Beto” Holguin and wife, Tami, Meade, and Benjamin and Amber Holguin, Newton; aunt, Rebecca Lynn and husband, Joe, Valley Center; and many cousins and other family members. 

He was preceded in death by his grandfather, Haracio Holguin.

 Rosary services will be at 7 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 10, 2018 at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Meade.  

Holy Mass will be celebrated at 3 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 11, 2018 at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Meade. 

Burial will follow the service at the Graceland Cemetery in Meade.

Friends may call from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 10, 2018 at Fidler-Orme-Bachman Mortuary in Meade.  

The family would welcome memorials in Luis’ name to assist with arrangements in care of the funeral home.
