LETTER TO THE EDITOR, Goldie Kemper Parker, Liberal

I read a while back about a predicament our police officer McCann was put into by one of our Liberal city commissioners.

Why would a law-abiding citizen want to break the speed law and not expect to be responsible for paying the penalty?

Was it because, “Look who I am, an important city commissioner?”

My husband was a policeman in the 1960s and 1970s and had a similar experience.

Floyd, however, was congratulated that he had the nerve to give the ticket to the well-known person.

It’s not an easy or a safe profession, and it doesn’t come with an admirable paycheck.

A drunk knocked Floyd’s glasses off and broke them while he was on duty, but the Commission at that time did not see fit to replace them.

Please don’t, as a private citizen, make it any more difficult than it already is for these “human also” people who risk their lives every day to keep you and me safe.

Peace officers, I love you.
