A Liberal woman and child and a Hooker, Okla., man suffered possible injuries in an accident Friday afternoon near Plains.

The Kansas Highway Patrol said two pickups, a 2011 Dodge and a 2009 Chevy, were eastbound on U.S. Highway 54 around 3:10 p.m. Friday.

KHP said the Chevy was waiting to turn north on to Meade County Road 3 about 1.5 miles west of Plains, when the Dodge rear ended it.

The Dodge’s driver, 26-year-old Brandon M. Bruner of Hooker, and the Chevy’s driver, Aide Rodriguez, 43, of Liberal, both suffered possible injuries, as was a passenger in the Chevy, Genesis Loya, 12, of Liberal.

Rodriguez and Loya were taken to Southwest Medical Center, but KHP said Bruner was not taken to a hospital. The agency said all three were wearing seat belts at the time of the wreck.
