While Devin Bethely and Mohamed Selmi struggled against the Hutchinson defense, Terrell Alfred shined, but his 27-point effort would be wasted in an 83-60 loss.

While Alfred was having a career night including eight three pointers, Selmi was shut out, and Bethely ended the game with three points.

altKe’Sean Davis only played for 14 minutes, scoring a single basket.

Isiah Small contributed 13 points in the loss.

Seward couldn’t have had a better start, jumping out to an 8-0 lead in the first four minutes of the game.

But Hutch answered with a 6-0 run over the next two minutes before Seward stretched the lead back to five with a Bethely three pointer.

Hutch finally took a lead midway through the first half, but the Saints kept the game close and tied the game at 18-18 with 7:24 to play in the first half after a Terrell three pointer.

But Hutch went on a 7-0 run to take a 25-18 lead with 4:54 to play in the half, and by the time the two teams headed to the locker room for halftime, Hutchinson finished the half on a 21-4 run that left Seward staring at a 39-22 deficit.

Seward cut the lead to 12 midway through the second half after another Terrell three, but Hutch steadily pulled away the rest of the way to drop the Saints to 11-7 overall, 7-7 in the Jayhawk Conference, with an 83-60 loss.

Hutchinson (15-3, 11-3) remained a game behind league-leading Barton (16-2, 12-2).

The Saints will look to stay above .500 Saturday on the road against Butler (8-9, 5-9) before retuning to the Green House Wednesday to host Cloud (6-11, 4-10).
