For the second straight game, the Saints had a two-point halftime lead, and for the second straight game, they couldn’t hold it in the second half.

After pushing first-place Barton to the final second Saturday night in the Greenhouse, the Saints traveled to Pratt Wednesday and struggled defensively in the second half in an 80-73 loss.

The Saints had a 32-30 lead at half against the struggling Beavers, but pratt looked to the long ball to make up the difference.

The Beavers connected on 10 three-point shots on 21 attempts while the Saints only made four three pointers on 18 attempts.

Seward out-rebounded the Beavers, but it didn’t help stop the outside shots, and the Beavers were able to use that advantage to earn the win.

The Saints shot a decent 43 percent, but Pratt shot 47 percent.

Seward had a huge advantage at the free throw line, making 23 of 28 shots while the Beavers only attempted 15 shots and made 12 of them.

But the three-point advantage for the Beavers made the difference.

The loss dropped Seward (13-9, 9-9) to eighth place in the Jayhawk Conference.

Isiah Small led the Saints with 17 points. Jamel Horton had 15, Anthony Thomas scored 13, and Terrell Alfred had 12.

Seward will travel to Ark City Saturday to face-sixth place Cowley (14-8, 11-7) with a chance to move up the standings.

After Cowley, Seward will face second-place Coffeyville in the Greenhouse Wednesday.
