• L&T staff report

The Cimarron River Valley Chapter of Daughters of the American Revolution met Tuesday, Jan. 18, at Liberal Memorial Library.

Seven members and one guest were present: Nancy Allen, Sammy Cope, Barbara Damron, Doris Malin-Leete, Virginia McNitt, Bonnie Raff, Connie Richmeier and guest Royce Kitts.

McNitt introduced library director Kitts, who presented information on genealogy research. Local libraries are a treasure trove of resources, with staff who can aid in locating records not housed locally.

Plans are being made for the State Conference of Kansas DAR, to take place April 5-7 in Topeka.

The next meeting of the Cimarron River Valley Chapter of DAR will take place at 2 p.m. Saturday at Western Avenue Church of Christ in Liberal.

Contest winners from the Junior American Citizen scholarship contest, as well as the Junior American Citizen (JAC) contests will be introduced along with their families.

In conjunction with the meeting, the chapter will host a Washington Day celebration, with tea and cookies served. Anyone interested in attending may call Richmeier at 620-624-1086.
