JOHNSON – Earl Ray Arnold, 80, died Sunday, March 4, 2018 at Bob Wilson Memorial Hospital in Ulysses.  

He was born Feb. 8, 1938 to Glen Y. and Ruby May (Long) Arnold on the family farm south of Johnson. 

He married Judy Ross Aug. 14, 1960 in Mayfield. She preceded him in death.

He was known for being a thinker, planner, and an inventor, and there wasn’t much of anything he couldn’t fix or alter to meet his needs.  

He obtained his degree in agricultural education from Kansas State University.  

He served on the Johnson CO-OP Board, school board, soil conservation board, FHA board, and the Johnson State Bank board.  

He was a member of the First United Methodist Church and served on several committees.  

He was also a member of Rotary and the Kum Double Klub.

Survivors include son, Steve and wife, Kathleen, Johnson; daughter, Shelley Rosario and husband, Pete, Manhattan; brother, Richard Arnold, Johnson; twin sister, Pearl Hershberger, Springfield, Mo.; eight grandchildren: Travis Arnold, Johnson, Andy Arnold and wife, Heidi, Clearwater, Tess Arnold, Johnson, Caleb Rosario, Manhattan, Nathan Rosario, Manhattan, Matthew Rosario, Manhattan Hannah Rosario, Manhattan, and Jessica Rosario, Manhattan; and one great-grandson on the way. 

He was also preceded in death by his parents; infant twin sons; and grandchildren, Tony and Tracy Arnold.

• Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, March 10, 2018 at the First United Methodist Church in Johnson with Pastor Jim Ross presiding.

Burial will follow at the Stanton County Cemetery in Johnson.  

Friends may call from 2 to 8 p.m. Friday, March 9, 2018 at Garnand Funeral Home in Johnson.  

Memorials are suggested to the Stanton County High School FFA Chapter, Alzheimer’s Association in memory of his beloved wife Judy, or the First United Methodist Church in care of Garnand Funeral Home, PO Box 715, Johnson, KS 67855.
