ELKHART – Glenda C. King, 76, died Saturday, March 3, 2018, at Via Christi Nursing Home in Hays.  

She was born April 1, 1941 to Charles and Matilda ((harms) Vandervort in Elkhart. 

She married Elmer King.

She attended Elkhart schools and Liberal School of Cosmetology.  

She enjoyed art, painting, writing poetry, cooking, museums, gardening, zoos, and history.  She had a great love for animals and trains.  

She loved her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, her children, grandchildren, siblings, and her church family. She accepted Jesus as her Lord and Savior and followed Him in baptism and became a member of Hillcrest Baptist Church more than 40 years ago.  

She worked most of her adult life at The Elkhart Tri-State News.  She also worked for many years at the Morton County Care Center. 

Survivors include son, Shane King and wife, Jennifer, Guymon, Okla.; daughter, Shauna Clark and husband, Darrin, Ellis; brother, Roger Vandervort, Ft. Townsend, Okla.; and grandchildren: Tori Riedel, Kori Clark, Brandon Rusch, Waylon Humphrey, Paige King, Teegan Telford, and Blake Whitney. 

She was preceded in death by her parents; and six siblings.

 Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday, March 8, 2018 at Hillcrest Baptist Church in Elkhart with Pastor Terrell Giddens presiding. 

Burial will follow at the Elkhart Cemetery in Elkhart. 

Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, March 7, 2018 at Garnand Funeral Home in Elkhart.  

Memorials are suggested to Lymphoma Foundation, St. Jude Children’s Hospital, or the Elkhart Animal Shelter in care of Garnand Funeral Home, PO Box 854, Elkhart, KS  67950.
