ALVIN, Texas – Helen Irene Streiff, 93, died Sunday, March 4, 2018, following a short illness. 

She was born April 9, 1924, and grew up on a small farm near Coats. 

After high school, she worked as a cashier in the Post Exchange at the U.S. Air Force base in Liberal. 

She married William F. Streiff Aug. 5, 1945. He preceded her in death Jan. 25, 2018. 

After the war, she and Bill built and managed the Snack Shack Drive-In in Liberal for more than 20 years. 

She worked as office manager and front desk assistant in her husband’s offices in Liberal, where he and their sons were in practice together, and later in Alvin, Texas, where their daughter joined his practice following her graduation in 1990. 

She was an avid hunter and fisherman. 

She was a member of AMORC (Ancient and Mystical Order of Rosae Crucis, also known as the Rosicrucian Order) for many years. 

Survivors include daughter, Dr. Muriel Owens; sons, Dr. David Streiff and Dr. Jon Streiff; son-in-law, Ed Owens; daughter-in-law, Dr. Susan Streiff; nine grandchildren; and six great grandchildren. 

She was also preceded in death by son, Dr. William F. Streiff Jr.

 Since her imminent passing was known to the family, her life was paid tribute along with her husband Bill at their Celebration of Life memorial service Saturday, Feb. 17, 2018. 

The ashes of both Bill and Helen Streiff will be scattered later in the year in a private family ceremony on family property in the Colorado mountains, where their son Bill, Jr.’s ashes were previously scattered. A monument will be erected on the property for both Helen and Bill Streiff and their son Bill Jr.
