ULYSSES – Blanca Estela Ibarra, 63, died Thursday, March 8, 2018 in Grant County.  

She was born May 2, 1954 to Salvador D. and Maria Guadalupe (Torres) Sosa in Guadalupe, Zacatecas, Mexico.

She married Jose A. Ibarra Feb. 15, 1974, in Guadalupe, Zacatecas, Mexico. He preceded her in death. 

She was a very devout Catholic and was an active member of the Mary, Queen of Peace Catholic Church in Ulysses. She enjoyed helping children and missionaries.  

She worked at Mary, Queen of Peace Catholic Church in the maintenance department as janitor for years. She was also employed at High Plains Educational Cooperative.  

She enjoyed cooking, sewing, and crocheting.

Survivors inclue sons, Antonio S. Ibarra, Ulysses, and Jose “Pepe” Ibarra Jr., Lawrence; daughter, Elizabeth Contreras and husband, Jason, Sandusky, Ohio; grandchildren: Kaleah, Tyler, and Greyson Contreras; brothers: Johnny Sosa, Ulysses, Marco A. Sosa, Ulysses, and Salvador Sosa, Liberal; sisters: Gloria Hernandez, Ulysses, Margarita Sosa, Ulysses, Josephine Taul, Ulysses, and Amalia Harris, Kentucky.

She was also preceded in death by her parents; sister, Margarita Limon; and brothers, Roberto Sosa and Juan Sosa.

 Rosary and vigil services will be at 7 p.m. Thursday, March 15, 2018 at Mary, Queen of Peace Catholic Church in Ulysses. 

Funeral mass will be at 10 a.m. Friday, March 16, 2018 at Mary, Queen of Peace Catholic Church in Ulysses with Reverend Peter Fernandez presiding.  

Friends may call from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Thursday, March 15, 2018 at Garnand Funeral Home in Ulysses.  

Memorials are suggested to the Blanca Ibarra Memorial Fund in care of Garnand Funeral Home, 405 W. Grant Ave, Ulysses, KS  67880.
