Liberal police officers were very busy on the morning of Nov. 16. Call after call came into dispatch regarding property thefts from vehicles in the central and northern parts of the City of Liberal. By the time officers responded to every call, more than a dozen burlaries had been reported.
“The burglaries happened during the overnight hours,” a release from Capt. Pat McClurg noted on the morning of Nov. 16. “The thieves targeted electronic items, purses, wallets, sporting goods and cash.
“The vehicles were unlocked,” McClurg added.
Within a week, three suspects were apprehended by the LPD due to their alleged involvement in the burglaries.
“On Nov. 19, we arrested a 18-year-old male and a 20-year-old male at a residence in Turpin (Okla.),” McClurg said Thursday afternoon. “On Nov. 22, we arrested a 19-year-old male at a motel in the 300 block of East Pancake.
“They have all been charged in connection with the multiple property thefts from vehicles on the night of Nov. 15 and the early morning hours of Nov. 16,” he continued.
McClurg added he doesn’t expect more arrests in the case.
