SATANTA – J.W. “Bill” Preedy, 81, died Tuesday, Jan. 6, 2009, at Satanta District Hospital.
He was born Dec. 10, 1927, to Walter Earl and Wilma Florence (Miller) Preedy in Sublette.
He married Patricia W. Barrett June 4, 1953, in Tucumcari, N.M.
He was a farmer and rancher.
He was a member of the United Methodist Church of Satanta.
He was a member of the Kansas Livestock Association, Southwest Royalty Owner Association, Gideons, National Cattlemen Association, Kansas Wheat Growers, past board member of Satanta Co-op and a past member of the Haskell County Soil Conservation Committee. In August of 1995, Bill and Pat were the grand marshall of the Haskell County Fair. In 1995, they received one of the Kansas Master Farmer and Homemaker awards.
Survivors include one son, Gary Preedy and wife, Sherry, Meade; one daughter, Nancy Doris and husband, Sig, Satanta; seven grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one daughter, DeAnne Preedy; and three brothers, Don, Roy Lee and Carl Preedy.
o Memorial services will be at 2 p.m. Friday at the United Methodist Church in Satanta with the Rev. Kelvin Heitma and the Rev. Phil Fischer presiding.
Friends may sign the register from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday at Haskell County Funeral Home.
