OKLAHOMA CITY – Farrell D. “Wayne” Bowers, 75, died Tuesday, Dec. 21, 2010, at OU Medical Center in Oklahoma City.
He was born June 14, 1935, to Mark and Thelma (Houseman) Bowers in Tyrone, Okla.
He was a graduate of Adams (Okla.) High School and attended college at Northwestern Oklahoma State University in Alva before enlisting in the Army.
After his service, he returned to Turpin to take over the family farm.
He was a member of the Turpin Baptist Church.
He served as a board member of Panhandle Telephone Company for 28 years.
He is survived by his wife, Evelyn; two sons, Bret Bowers and wife, Nora, and Kelly Bowers and Marla, Adams, Okla.; two daughters, Kris Rider and husband, Bart, Broken Arrow, Okla., and Amy Tharp, Stillwater, Okla.; one sister, Iris Strait; his grandchildren, Delci and husband, Denny Windell, Bret Bowers Jr. and wife, Amy, Laci and Andrew Bowers, Lyndon and Cassidy Tharp, Adam and Sydnie Rider and Mikayla Bowers; and great-grandchildren, Aliyah Bowers, Masyn Tharp and Elly Bowers.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one son, Stacy.
o Memorial service will be at 10 a.m. Monday at Turpin Baptist Church.
