JOHNSON – John E. Lashmet Sr., 74, died Tuesday, Dec. 28, 2010, at his home in Johnson.
He was born Oct. 14, 1936, to Lewis Ross and Pauline Louise (Ward) Lashmet in Joplin, Mo.
He married Lois Bitner Jan. 21, 1954, in Dalhart, Texas. She survives.
He worked for Nichols Oil Company. He operated heavy equipment and farmed. He later went to work at the power plant for the City of Johnson.
He enjoyed woodworking and carving.
Other survivors include three sons, John E. Lashmet Jr. and wife, Jill, Fort Lupton, Colo., Ron Lashmet, Tulia, Texas, and Lyle Lashmet, Johnson; one daughter, Lynette Peterson and husband, Gary, Indianapolis; two brothers, Thomas Lashmet, Galesville, Texas, and Paul Lashmet of Oklahoma; 10 grandchildren, Deidra, Zach, Terrance, Ty, Kayla, Shana, Brittney, Chris, Lyndsay and Taylor; and three great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, four sisters and five brothers.
o Funeral service were at 2 p.m. today at Garnand Funeral Home Chapel in Johnson with John Hartig and Doug Ogden presiding.
Burial followed at the Stanton County Cemetery in Johnson.
