The middle school boys basketball season opened with a bang on Thursday evening, with the West 7th graders falling to Dodge City. The South 7th graders also played at home.
The West 7th grade B team lost 24-12.
“They didn’t quit,” said West 7th grade coach Robert Underwood. “We had a 6-point game in the third quarter of the A team game. It was just some nerves and first game mistakes is what got us.”
Jonathan Wilson led the B team with six points on two 3-pointers.
The A-team lost 41-22, but it wasn’t that bad.
“The score looks worse than the game was played,” Underwood said. “It was close until the fourth quarter.”
Jared Hasik led West with 9 points in the A team contest.
West and South will battle each other on Tuesday at 4 p.m. The 7th grade will play at West and 8th grade at South. There will be an A, B and C game for the 7th grade.
Information from South’s games against Hugoton were not available at press time Friday morning. Look for more at a later date.
