Turpin swept at Texhoma, Tyrone splits at Hardesty PDF Print E-mail

The Tyrone Bobcat boys contnued to roll right along on Friday night, picking up a 48-28 win over Hardesty, Okla. on the road.
The win gives the Bobcats a 10-1 record.
“They kept us way below average on scoring,” coach Clay Witt said. “It was a 3-point game at halftime and we had a real good third quarter that helped us get pulled away from them finally.”
Tyrone was cold from the floor, going 2-for-13 from 3-point land.
“I give a lot of credit to their defense,” Witt said. “Two-for-13 will get you beat a lot of nights.”
Tyrone was 9-for-16 from the charity stripe.
Leading scorer was Austin Olivas with 18, right of those in the third quarter.
“Most of his were on fast-breaks,” Witt said.
Tyler Lai scored 10.
“He has just been super solid for us this year,” Witt said.
Jacob Williams scored 7 and added 9 rebounds, which is a little below average.
“They concentrated on taking him out of the game and they did a pretty good job of it,” Witt said. “They made us shoot from the outside alot.”
The Bobcats travel to Keyes, Okla. on Tuesday then head to Texhoma, Okla. for the Texhoma Tournament, where the Bobcats will open against a familiar foe — Goodwell. They’ve played each other three twice already and a third game was postponed due to snow in Goodwell.
The Lady Bobcats fell to 5-6 on the season with a 36-28 loss to the Lady Bison.
Texhoma boys 54, Turpin 47
The annual Turpin-Texhoma grudge match ended with a 7-point win for the Red Devils of coach Greg Higgins.
Texhoma won every quarter but the third, which Turpin won 12-8.
Francisco Regaldo, Bradley Kinser and Matt Mendoza 13 each scored 13 for Turpin (5-9). Tyler Ansley added 19 for Texhoma (7-6).
Texhoma girls 51, Turpin 11
The Lady Devils led 34-6 at halftime en route to an easy win.
Raegan Alvarez scored 4 to lead Turpin.
Tabra Elliott scored 11 and Courtney Sheets 10 for Texhoma.
Turpin will take on Beaver on Tuesday before heading to the Texhoma tournament next weekend.
