CONCORDIA — Jeremy Jones swished in 26 points, including a 7-for-9 performance from 3-point land as the Seward County Saints took possession of first place in the Jayhawk West with an 80-57 win over Cloud County, Monday night.
Seward County (16-3 overall, 4-1 Jayhawk West) shot 50 percent from the floor in the first half en route to a 48-22 halftime lead. Cloud County (13-5, 3-1) outscored Seward 35-32 in the second half as the Saints dropped to 42 percent shooting.
Cloud shot a dismal 25 percent in the first half.
Marky Nolen scored 14 points and grabbed 11 boards for the Saints, Daveon Boardingham 11 and 8 rebounds, Rafriel Guthrie 11 points, Marquez Patterson 5, Markee Mazyck and Irvin Hollinger 4 each, Isaiah Thaw 3 and Raphael Giaimo 2.

Lady Saints ............................ 48

The Lady Saints got 13 points from Ashlynn Knoll as Seward led 28-23 at halftime. But the ladies went cold, shooting 24 percent in the second half as Cloud County outscored Seward 33-20.
Hanna Bognar scored 7 as the Lady Saints were once again with just seven players, with two out due to injuries. Morgan Skomal, Mariah Lee and Kelsey Willson each scored 6, and Kayla Thomas and Mattie Yanke 5 apiece for Seward County.
Seward held the edge in rebounding, 41-35.
Satavia Taylor led Cloud County with 12.
After a day off Wednesday, the Saints and Lady Saints will be back in the Greenhouse Saturday night to take on Dodge City. The buyout sponsor is Sunflower Bank. Game times are 6 and 8 p.m.
