LAWRENCE R. MILLER
ULYSSES – Lawrence R. Miller, 86, died Sunday, Oct. 24, 2008 at Bob Wilson Memorial Hospital in Ulysses.
He was born Dec. 10, 1921, to John and Katherine (Hoffman) Miller in Asumption, Neb.
He married Geraldine M. Longtin Feb. 28, 1944, in Garden City. She died Nov. 18, 1995.
He graduated from Campbell High School in Hastings, Neb.
He was an Army WWII veteran.
After being honorably discharged from the Army, he began farming.
He was a member of Mary Queen of Peace Catholic Church in Ulysses.
He was a member of the Knights of Columbus in Ulysses.
He was a craftsman. He was very skilled and enjoyed building things from wood and metal. He was an avid sports fan and a Ulysses Tiger fan.
Survivors include four sons, Lawrence Michael Miller and wife, Theresa, Clinton, Okla., Anthony J. Miller and wife, Cynthia, Ulysses, Pat N. Miller and wife, Laura, Liberal, and David Miller, Ulysses; two daughters, Judy Nedom and husband Robert, Ulysses, and Constance Lewis and husband, Bill, Liberal; one brother, William Miller, Ohio; four sisters, Geraldine Wilhelm, Wisconsin, Dorothy Moffitt, Ohio, Margaret Tinker, Ohio, and Bonnie Sciera, New York; 12 grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren.
He was also preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Robert Miller; and one great-granddaughter, Devon Parks.
o A vigil service will be at 7 p.m. Tuesday at Mary Queen of Peace Catholic Church in Ulysses.
Funeral mass will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Mary Queen of Peace Catholic Church with the Rev. Francis Khoi Nguyen presiding.
Burial will follow at Ulysses Cemetery.
Friends may call from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesday at Garnand Funeral Home.
