COLBY — The Liberal Redskin boys turned the ball over 22 times, but got 14 points from LeVondre Livingston in a slow-paced 38-36 win over Monument (Colo.) Palmer Ridge in the opening round of the Orange and Black Classic at Colby High School.
Neither team could get their offense in gear, and Liberal’s biggest lead was just five points. Liberal (6-4) shot 50 percent (12-for-24) from the free throw line.
Livingston was 6-of-7 from the field. Jade Cathey scored 10 points and added seven boards for Liberal. Bryan Morris stole the ball four times and had eight rebounds.
Liberal will take on Sunrise Christian tonight at 8:15 p.m. at the Colby Community Building.
In other boys scores, Hays downed Hugoton 46-29 and McCook (Neb.) downed Holcomb 73-71.

Liberal (5-5) will take on Hugoton tonight at 6:30 at Colby High School. Hugoton fell to McCook (Neb.) 36-34.
