Deadlines approach to file for city commission, Liberal and Kismet school boards and seats on the college board of trustees

The deadline for candidates to file for all the upcoming positions in the April election is noon Tuesday.
Those interested in filing for City Commission need to complete a Candidate’s Declaration of Intention form and pay the $45 filing fee with the City Clerk’s office. The office is located at City Hall, 324 North Kansas, is open from 9 a.m. to noon and 1 to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday.
Seward County Community College has three at-large positions on the board of trustees open for election.
Unified School District No. 480 in Liberal has four at-large member positions open for election.
Unified School District No. 483 in Kismet has three board members in District No. 1 open and one at-large position open.
The filing deadline for these positions is noon Jan. 25. Anyone wishing to file for a position may do so at the Seward County Clerk’s office at 515 N. Washington Ave., Suite 100 in Liberal.
The latest two filings were: John Lee has filed Thursday for Kismet City Council and Stand Reiss filed Friday for USD 483 Member District 1 School Board.
