It’s easy to throw in the towel when you’re down or things look glum,
but the Redskin junior varsity showed a lot of heart and a lot of
fight to take down the Garden City Buffaloes Tuesday.
The up and coming Redskins pulled off a gutsy comeback over the
Buffalo JV.
The Redskins were not firing on all cylinders to begin their game
Tuesday night with Garden City, but they ended on fire. The Redskins
faced a 20-point deficit before hitting a couple last minute baskets
to make the score at halftime 30-14.
The deficit seemed to motivate the Redskins.
In the third quarter Liberal outscored Garden 15-2 to make it 32-29.
Similar results came out of the fourth quarter with tough defensive
play and rebounding leading to many shot opportunities to get the
Redskins over the hump and beyond.
Again the ’Skins would obliterate the Buffaloes in the quarter,
outscoring the Buffaloes in the fourth, 19-3, to take the lead and
then to end the game with Liberal on top 48-35.
Leading the junior varsity in scoring was Tyson Deaton who put up 15
points. Deaton ended the night with 30 points by coming off the bench
and scoring another 15 in the varsity game. Kowan Russell and Kyle
Potts each added 11 in the win.
