• Special to the Leader & Times
A native of Wichita, Lauren Werhan became Miss Kansas 2010 on June 12 in Pratt.
She is the daughter of Rodney and Linda Werhan and is one of four children.
Prior to winning the Miss Kansas title, Werhan was a student at Wichita State University working toward a degree in strategic communications. As Miss Kansas 2010, she has partnered with Do The Deed and Volunteer Kansas to promote her platform of “Do The Deed: Deeds of Service.”
During her year of service as Miss Kansas, Werhan hopes to take this platform across the state, encouraging individuals everywhere to find ways to volunteer in their own communities.
In her personal effort to promote volunteerism, she has travelled to Thailand to volunteer at an orphanage, lobbied our state Capitol for legislation giving financial support to aid children with autism and is working locally with Do The Deed to promote volunteerism throughout the state of Kansas.
Werhan represented Kansas at the 2011 Miss America Pageant in January in Las Vegas.
