An early morning collision Thursday on Western Avenue sent four men to the hospital, according to a press release from Liberal Police Chief Alan D. Sill.
At 4:38 a.m. Thursday, emergency personnel and law enforcement were dispatched to the area of Fifth Street and Western Avenue for a report of an injury accident.
“Three adult males were found injured at the scene, one seriously,”
the report noted. “All three were transported to Southwest Medical Center by Seward County Emergency Medical Services.”
Further investigation revealed that a white 1999 Ford Taurus was driving south on Western Avenue and made a left turn at Fifth Street.
According to the report, a black, 1998 Honda was traveling north on Western Avenue, striking the Ford Taurus.
“A witness observed two occupants from the Honda run from the scene,”
the release said.
A fourth adult male was later transported to Southwest Medical Center by a private vehicle. Investigators are determining what part he may have played in the collision.
