The Kansas Young Republicans conducted their state convention on Saturday, March 12, in Topeka. J.R. Claeys of Salina, who ran for Secretary of State last fall, was elected the Chairman of the Kansas Young Republicans. Claeys nominated State Senator Garrett Love to be the State Legislature Representative. Claeys also nominated Seward County Republican Chairman Reid Petty to be one of two State Representatives in the First District for the Kansas Young Republicans. The First District includes 69 counties. Both Love and Petty were then elected by the voting members after the nomination and will serve two-year terms. The Kansas Young Republicans were founded in 1880 and are open for anyone from the age of 18 to 40. Courtesy photo
