• L & T staff report

A Liberal man is listed in critical condition at an Amarillo, Texas, hospital following a collision accident Wednesday morning near Optima, Okla.
The wreck occurred around 6:05 a.m. one mile west of Optima on U.S. Highway 54 when a 2005 GMC Envoy, driven by Ricky Ricardo, 22, of Liberal, was westbound on U.S.-54, according to the Oklahoma Highway Patrol.
The OHP report said Ricardo ran the vehicle off the roadway into the center median and then overcorrected back to the right side of the roadway, where the vehicle rolled two times coming to rest on its wheels.
Seat belts were equipped, but not in use in the vehicle, and the report indicated Ricardo was ejected from the vehicle.
Ricardo was flown to Northwest Texas Hospital in Amarillo with head, leg and internal injuries. He is listed in critical condition.
