Thursday, AT&T announced the availability of its mobile broadband network in Liberal, extending access for advanced mobile services, devices and feature-rich audio and video content to customers in the area.
AT&T is an industry leader in delivering the benefits of mobile broadband networks, devices and applications. With the nation’s fastest mobile broadband network, AT&T provides accelerated mobile data speeds and simultaneous voice and data capabilities for an amazing wireless voice and data experience.
“Demand for wireless bandwidth is growing rapidly, whether it’s for sharing video and photos with friends, watching a movie, checking the latest scores or listening to music on a phone, netbook or other on-the-go devices,” Steve Hahn, AT&T’s president of Kansas, said. “With this expansion, our customers can enjoy the nation’s best, most advanced mobile broadband experience with emerging devices and tens of thousands of mobile applications.”
This network upgrade results from the investment AT&T makes year after year in communities all across the country. In the first six months of 2011, the company invested more than $13 million in its Kansas wireless network, part of the nearly $60 million network investment in both wireless and wireline.
“We appreciate AT&T’s investment in Western Kansas,” State Senator Garrett Love, a member of the Senate Utilities Committee, said. “Our communities and businesses will benefit from the upgrade to 3G Mobile Broadband and the additional jobs and choices for service that result from it.”
“Investment like this continues to drive economic growth in our area,” Rozelle Webb, executive director of the Liberal Chamber of Commerce, said. “We applaud state leaders like Sen. Love and state reps Carl Holmes and Steve Alford for ensuring Kansas is a business friendly state.”
“Bringing advanced services like 3G Mobile Broadband to our businesses today will allow them to compete nationally and internationally, and that investment will multiply throughout the Kansas economy, creating jobs and adding much needed revenue to the state and local tax base,” Jack Taylor, executive director of the Southwest Passage Initiative for Regional and Interstate Transportation, said.
