BESS C. LOFLAND

Bess Carlene Lofland, 78, died Tuesday, Feb. 17, 2009, at Southwest Medical Center in Liberal.

She was born May 3, 1930, to Chester and Emma E. Blackwood Crossley in Superior, Neb.

She married Ralph L. Lofland Dec. 31, 1954, in Wichita. He died Aug. 25, 2003.

She graduated high school in 1948 in Omaha, Neb. She received a degree in human resources management from Friends University in Wichita.

She owned A-1 Services for 15 years.

She was a member of the Christian Convention.

She is survived by one daughter, Anna Newport and husband, Mike, Turpin, Okla.; one sister, Lenore Pace, Lee’s Summit, Mo.; one granddaughter, Emmalee Newport, Turpin; and one sister-in-law, Lois Crossley, Wichita.

She was preceded in death by her parents, one son, Dan Lofland, one daughter, Esther Jane Lofland, two brothers and one sister.

o Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Miller Chapel with Ron Thompke and Ron Johnson presiding.

Burial will be at the Liberal Cemetery.

Friends may call from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. Friday and from 8 a.m. until service time Saturday at Miller Mortuary.
