A grass fire at U.S. Highway 83 and Road 11 was called in at 1:45 Monday afternoon, Seward County Fire Chief Michael Rice said. “The grass fire appeared to be started by a power line,” Rice said. “We had seven trucks from Seward County, one truck from Liberal Fire, two trucks from Turpin Fire, two from Tyrone Fire and numerous farmers with tractors and discs, and semis with water for us.” Approximately 70 acres of mostly CRP grass burned, Rice added. No structures were damaged as a result of the fire which was under control at 2:45 p.m. L&T photo/Jessica Crawford
