CIMARRON – Carl R. Droste, 66, died Thursday, Feb. 12, 2009. at Minneola District Hospital.

He was born June 11, 1942, to Albert and Elizabeth H. (Torline) Droste in Spearville.

He married Judy Schomaker Sept. 18, 1965, in Dodge City. 

He then married Sandy Davis Oct. 19, 1983, in Las Vegas. 

He served in the U.S. Army. He worked for United Telephone Comapny in Dodge City.

He was a member of the St. Stanislaus Catholic Church in Ingalls.

He enjoyed hunting, trap shooting, coyote and prairie dog hunting and motorcycle riding.

Survivors include two daughters, Annette Sue “Missy” Droste, Cimarron, and Tonya Lee Droste and daughter, Ericka, Dodge City; three stepdaughters, Christi Dupree and husband, Darrell, Cimarron, Staci Brock and husband, Tim, Dodge City, and Angie McPhail and husband, Stephen, Cimarron; five brothers, Leonard Droste, Spearville, Melvin Droste, Yuma, Ariz., Jerry Droste, Kingsdown, Art Droste of North Carolina and Pete Droste, Wichita; four sisters, Zita Schriner, Lois Bailey, Janet Slattery and Jean Sprott, all of Dodge City; one granddaughter; eight stepgrandchildren; and other relatives.

He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Alfred and Lloyd Droste.

o Funeral mass will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at St. Stanislaus Catholic Church in Ingalls with Father James presiding.

Vigil services will be at 7 p.m. today at St. Stanislaus Catholic Church in Ingalls.

Burial will be at the Cimarron Cemetery.

Friends may call until 4 p.m. today at Montezuma Funeral Home.

Memorials are suggested to the American Cancer Society and may be mailed to Montezuma Funeral Home, Box 421, Montezuma, KS 67867.
