 • Daily Leader staff report In a close election to fill the No. 4 seat on Turpin (Okla.) School District Board, Tara Kirkhart squeaked out an 8-vote victory Tuesday over Laura Estes. The final tally of polling was Kirkhart 93 and Estes 85. Kirkhart will replace Ervin Buller on the board.

Kirkhart owns and operates Panhandle Pizza in Turpin, and she decided late last year to make a run for a seat on the school board in the small Beaver County, Okla., community.

Kirkhart is a retired educator, having taught in schools in Minneola, Turpin and Liberal.

She has a degree in vocational family and consumer science in the secondary level from Southwestern College in Winfield.

She is the mother of three children, Chandler, 19, a student at Southwestern, Brenton, 17, a junior at Turpin High School, and Annalynn, 11, a fifth grader at Turpin Elementary.
