With six league games remaining Liberal (16-12) sits a half game back in the Jayhawk League behind  Haysville (17-12), and tied with Hays (15-11). Liberal will take to the field tonight hosting Hays seeking to make a move in the standings.

It’s nearly impossible to imagine after all the losses Liberal has suffered this season like Eddie Arroyo, Richard Bohlken, Jake Barrios, Kelby Tomlinson, and Riley Good to name a few, that they’re still competing for the title. But  the Bee Jays have silenced the doubters and have put themselves in position to win the league in the last nine days of regular season play.

Liberal will play two with Hays tonight and tomorrow at Brent Gould Field before heading  to McDonald Field in El Dorado July 23, 24, and 25. The Bee Jays will then round out the season in Dodge City July 28. Liberal coach  Chris Joblin in place of Mike Silva who’s out of town on business, urged his guys to “keep pushing.” With the season coming down to the wire with four teams within a game of the league lead, if Liberal will make a final push for a league championship, their first since 1999, it would be a feather in the cap before making another run at the NBC World Series.
