The Liberal Bee Jays game in Dodge City Thursday night was cancelled due to rain after two innings shifting focus to the NBC World Series.
The Bee Jays seek to defend their 2010 title against the Sooner Collegiate League Champion, Tulsa Titans Saturday at 7:30 p.m. Thirty-two teams will compete for the title, four of which are Jayhawk League teams. Haysville, Hays, Derby, and Liberal will all represent the league in different capacities at the tourney.
Liberal comes off a two-game sweep of the Colorado All-Stars. The Bee Jays have Eddie Arroyo back at second base and a sure-handed shortstop in Pepperdine’s Miles Silverstein. Seward and Colorado Sox first baseman J.T. Bean also joined the squad. The Titans will be well rested, but more than likely a little rusty with their last game being played July 13, more than two weeks ago.
Haysville made it in as the Jayhawk League Champion and will face the Washita Valley Regional winners in the Clearwater Cowboys Saturday. Since the Heat chose to enter the tournament as Jayhawk League champs, The Midwest Regional Champion slot went to the Derby Twins who will face the MINK runners-up, the Nevada Griffins, Sunday.
Hays, in as the Jayhawk runners-up will face the Crestwood Panthers from Illinois Monday.
