FORGAN, Okla. – Bessye E. Shuey Hopper, 97, died Sunday, March 22, 2009, at Beaver County, Okla., Nursing Home.

She was born Dec. 13, 1911, to Abraham and Rosa Patton Robins in rural Forgan, Okla.

She married Robert Wayne Shuey Sr. Nov. 11, 1929. He died in 1978.

She then married Royal Hopper in November 1979. He died in 1987.

She graduated from Forgan High School in 1929.

She was a homemaker.

She was a member of First Baptist Church of Forgan, where she taught Sunday school for many years, and the last class she taught was the Loyal Workers.

She enjoyed traveling in her motor home.

Survivors include one son, Robert Wayne Shuey Jr. and wife, Joyce, Beaver, Okla.; one daughter,  Doris Maxine Brown and husband, Jack, Niangua, Mo.; seven grandchildren, Rhonda Shuey Drake and husband, Mike, Oklahoma City, Russell Shuey and wife, Debra, Las Vegas, Randell Shuey and wife, Debbie, Oklahoma City, Donna Shuey Hayes and husband, Kyle, Liberal, Jaxine Cincusky and husband, Randy, Lebanon, Mo., Guy Brown and wife, Mary, Niangua, and David Brown and wife, Nancy, Niangua; 11 great-grandchildren; 11 great-great-grandchildren; and one daughter-in-law, Wanda Shuey Cummins, Forgan, Okla.

She was also preceded in death by one son, Donald Ray Shuey, one daughter Dorothy May Shuey,  two brothers, Joe and Lowell Robins, and one sister, Alta Henson.

o Funeral service will be at 2 p.m. Friday at the First Baptist Church in Forgan with Pastor Paul H. Dickson and Wayne Moore presiding.

Burial will be at Forgan Cemetery.

Friends may call from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday at Kitch-Brenneman Funeral Home of Liberal.

Memorials are suggested to the First Baptist Church in Forgan in care of Kitch-Brenneman Funeral Home, 1212 W. Second, Liberal, KS 67901.
