L&T staff report

The Southwestern Heights Lady Mustangs earned another Hi-Plains League title Tuesday after sweeping the Sublette quad.

The Lady Mustangs started with a win over Sublette, 25-16, 25-10.

Heights then defeated Stanton Co., 25-11, 25-10.

The Lady Mustangs completed the sweep with a win over Lakin, 25-21, 11-25, 25-20.

Senior Rachel Stout had 14 kills against Lakin and a total of 27 kills and four ace serves for the night.

Senior Rebi Jacobs had 20 kills and two aces.

Senior Sheree Ryan had 15 kills.

Junior Tiana Couch and sophomore Nayelly LaPoint both delivered strong sets, according to coach Julie Tucker.

“The Lakin match was a great match,” Tucker said. “It was extremely intense in the third set, and I felt like we showed a lot of growth as we fought them off in the third set after they trounced us in set two. That type of match is going to make us so much better as we get into post-season play.”

The junior varsity also swept the quad and moved to 19-12 overall,  9-0 in the Hi-Plains League.

The Lady Mustangs will play in the Hi-Plains League tournament Saturday at Cimarron.
