Special to the Leader & Times

The West Lady Warrior’s A and B team traveled to Ulysses Tuesday for a quad. The ladies were looking to fine tune their game in preparation for the Ark River Middle School tournament Thursday.

The A  team came out a little slow but found their groove and beat South 25-17, 25-12. Then they moved on to play Ulysses and won in three sets 25-14, 23-25,15-5.

The Warriors had one more team to play and that was Scott City. West showed why they were a contender for the League title finishing off Scott City 25-9, 25-12. The quad sweep advanced the Lady Warrior’s record to 23-6.

West will play in Dodge City in the first round of the Arms tournament on Thursday.

The B-Team went 2-1 on the day but found out they can come back and compete with only six girls. The Lady Warriors beat South and Scott City, but lost to Ulysses in 3 sets. Their record is 16-9.

They will play Kenneth Henderson in the first round of the ARMS Tournament.

“Both teams are ready for the challenge,” West coach Pat Knott said. “They have worked hard to get here and have that hungry feeling of finishing on top.”
