CARL J. GERBER
FOWLER – Carl Jacob Gerber, 94, died Sunday, April 12, 2009, at Minneola District Hospital.
He was born Aug. 14, 1914, to Joe and Mary Gerber.
He was a 1934 graduate of Fowler High School.
He married Dorothy Steinke May 9, 1939. She preceded him in death.
He was a farmer and community volunteer.
He was a member of St. Anthony’s Catholic Church and Knights of Columbus.
He served many years on the Fowler City Council, Fowler Equity Board and the board of Fowler State Bank.
Survivors include three sons; two daughters; 13 grandchildren; and 20 great-grandchildren. Family members and spouses are: Jay and Ruth Gerber, Lincoln, Neb., Jerry and Elaine Gerber, Garden Plain, Carla and Mike Bartlett, Fowler Sharon and Mike (deceased) Moran, South Hutchinson; one brother, Gene Gerber, Fort Collins, Colo.; and one sister, Coletta Low, Fowler.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one son, Jon; one brother, Alvin; and three sisters, Dorothy, Florence and Lorene.
o Vigil services will be at 7 p.m. Wednesday at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church in Fowler.
Holy mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Thursday at the church.
Burial will be at the Fowler Cemetery.
Friends may call from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Wednesday at Fidler-Orme-Bachman Mortuary of Meade.
