After making their first appearance of the season in the NJCAA Top 10, the Lady Saints suffered back-to-back losses last weekend in Garden City to two teams that moved up the polls while Seward moved down.
The Lady Saints lost to Independence who moved from ninth to third in the nation after the victory.
New Mexico Junior College also defeated the Lady Saints and entered the poll for th first time this season at No. 16.
Seward slipped from 10th to 14th after the two losses.
And the road won’t get any easier this weekend when the Lady Saints travel to Hutchinson for a pair of afternoon matinee games.
The Lady Saints will face Barclay at 1:30 p.m. today before facing No. 18 State Fair at 1:30 p.m. Saturday.
Seward can make a case for having the toughest pre-conference schedule in the nation through the first 11 games.
The Lady Saints have already played defending Div. 2 champion Monroe College, a team that is currently ranked 15th, and stout Texas competition . Seward faced Florida powerhouse Tallahassee as well as Independence and New Mexico Junior College. The Lady Saints haven’t avoided competition from anywhere, and by the end of this weekend will have already faced teams from eight different states including New york, Florida, Texas, Kansas, New Mexico, Oklahoma, Colorado and Missouri. Seven of those games will have been played on the road.
The Lady Saints will return to the Green House Dec. 9 and 10 to play in the Pizza Hut Classic.
