The Beaver Dusters motion offense was in full motion Friday night at the Rolla Showcase as ten different Dusters scored in a 46-37 win over Moscow.
“Played well tonight,” said Beaver head coach Devon Thrash. “ We came out in the first quarter and played really tough defense, got our offense rolling early, and it carried that throughout the game. We had a couple of dry spells, but our defense kept us ahead through those times.”
Beaver jumped all over Moscow in the first period taking a 15-2 lead. Moscow clawed back into the game in the second quarter outscoring Beaver 15-8 and only trailed 23-17 at the break.
In the third it was Beaver’s turn to score 15 again as the Dusters pushed their lead back to double digits (38-26). Moscow was able to cut into the lead a little in the fourth, but Beaver gave them every chance by making only 6 of 15 free throws in the fourth quarter.
“We were well balanced tonight,” said Thrash. “We knocked down the outside shot when they collapsed inside. Got some open cutters to the rim and really spread the ball out well tonight. Big boys went to the rim well. “
Luis Chavez was Beaver’s top scorer with 9 points, and David Rivera and Kalen Gabel each tallied 8.
Beaver advanced to the finals of the Rolla Showcase against the Elkhart Wildcats.
