Bulldogs crush Red Devils

The Forgan Bulldogs forced 21 turnovers , jumped allover the Texhoma Red Devil to win their second consecutive Laverne tournament championship, 75-38.

Forgan pulled out to an big lead in the first quarter, leading 24-7. They increased their lead to 26 at the break (43-17).

Forgan continued to pull away in the second half, and led by 33 heading into the fourth quarter.

Forgan was 20 of 38 from 2-point range, 8 of 20 from beyond the arc, and 11 of19 from the free throw line. Ryan Radcliff was named the tournament MVP, and Rhett Radcliff and Tanner Jones were named all-tournametn.

Forgan is now 6-0 and will travel to Laverne Friday.


Lady Bulldogs come up short in fourth

The Forgan Lady Bulldogs fell just short of bringing home the Lavern tournament championship Saturday night, falling to the Texhoma Lady Red Devils, 50-46.

It came down to the fourth quarter for these evenly matched teams with the score at 36 heading into the fourth quarter. Texhoma was strong at the line in the final stanza, which helped them to a 14-10 advantage, the final difference in the game.

Forgan had led after the first quarter 14-10, thanks in part to all-tournament selection Kenzi Taylor. Taylor scored 10 of her game-high 18 in the first quarter. Forgan still led by two at the break, 24-22.

Statistically the two teams were almost even in many categories. Forgan made 10 of 25 2-pointers, while Texhoma was 12-27. Both teams made six 3-pointers, and both teams made eight free throws.

Besides Taylor, KaDawn McReynolds led the Lady Bulldogs with 11 points, and Gabby Morales with 10. Lindsey Trippet was also named to the all-tournament team.

Beaver is now 2-3, and will travel to Laverne Friday.
