COPELAND – Viola Wedel, 87, died Saturday, May 9, 2009, at Western Plains Medical Complex in Dodge City.
She was born April 2, 1922, to Jesse and Lydia (Jantz) Nichols in Copeland.
She married Lacy Wedel Dec. 7, 1941, in Copeland. He died Feb. 2, 1971.
She was a homemaker.
She was a member of the Salem Mennonite Church in Copeland.
She enjoyed cooking.
Survivors include two sons, Gerald Wedel and wife, Letha, Copeland, and Wayne Wedel and wife, Judi, Monte Vista, Colo.; two daughters, Donna Bird, Sho-Low, Ariz., and Elva Bach and husband, Greg, Casper, Wyo.; one sister, Verda Giesbrecht, Montezuma; 10 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; and many relatives and friends.
She was also preceded in death by her parents and three brothers, Martin, Warren and Allen Nichols.
o Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at the Salem Mennonite Church in Copeland with Minister Sam Unruh and Steve Unruh presiding.
Burial will be at the Salem Mennonite Church Cemetery in Copeland.
Friends may call until 8 p.m. today and from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Tuesday at Montezuma Funeral Home.
