In perhaps the toughest regional in golf, the Liberal Redskins finished fourth, just missing the cut to qualify for the state golf tournament Monday At Turkey Creek in McPherson.

While the team did not qualify, Justin Andrade finished second overall and earned an individual ticket to the state tournament. Ryan Petty also earned a shot at a state title by shooting a 90 and finishing 22nd.

Andrade finished with a 73, one stroke behind Hays’ Trey Herman who shot a 72 to win the regional event.

Hays won the team title with a 306, Hutchinson was second with a 315, McPherson came in third with a 331, Liberal finished fourth with a 345, Salina Central was fifth with a 357, Salina South was sixth with a 361, and Great Bend was seventh with a 386.

The state golf tournament will be played May 26 at the Emporia Municipal Golf Course in Emporia.
